Common Questions about Therapy
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THERAPY?
The first session is usually us getting to know each other and a series of questions to help identify areas of need to focus on. Together we create a plan which will move you towards your goals in counselling. Sessions include sharing thoughts, discovering new perspectives, and identifying alternative ways to cope. Some clients request specialized therapies such as EMDR or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, whereas others find talk therapy supportive. It is always designed to suit whatever you find most helpful. Sessions also can differ pending your specific concern or goal for that day.
HOW DO I KNOW IF THERAPY IS A GOOD FIT?
The goodness of fit between the therapist and you as the client is important to allow for growth and inner change. The therapist or you always has a right to end a session or services if they feel it is no longer a fit. It is important you feel safe and trust the therapist in order to be vulnerable and to allow inner transformation. Realign offers a free 15-minute phone consultation to allow you the opportunity be informed about your choices.

HOW LONG DO I DO COUNSELLING FOR?
This is unique to each individual and their goals. Some clients feel better after one session, while others require ongoing sessions to maintain stability. Services are flexible to allow you to choose what works for you and this will be discussed during your first session. Clients are also welcome to reach out for crisis intervention sessions as they feel necessary.
WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE THE APPOINTMENT?
Life happens and unexpected things pop up. There is free cancellation prior to 24 hours of the appointment. However, appointments cancelled within 24 hours will be charged the full session fee.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
Individual sessions are $200 per 60 minutes (virtual/in-person). Services are covered by most Extended Health Care Plans for counselling by a Registered Social Worker. A detailed invoice and payment receipt will be provided. Direct billing is available for Alberta Blue Cross and Greenshield Canada. Payment can also be e-transfer or credit card.

HOW DO I PAY?
You can e-transfer or use a credit card payment option available through Jane, where your client profile is located.
Direct billing available for Alberta Blue Cross and GSC.
HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
Please go to CONTACT or email jenna@realigncounselling.ca to discuss booking. Once you are added to the Jane platform, you will have access to online booking.
